The Franklin County Auditor is an elected office with a four year term. The Auditors position has been held by Ralph E. Sudholt since January 1, 1995. Ralph has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Cum Laude degree with a major in accounting from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He has been a Missouri licensed Certified Public Accountant since 1974. Mr. Sudholt has been the president of the Missouri Association of County Auditors, treasurer of East Central College, and his church treasurer for many years. Ralph's working experience includes an international CPA firm, a large national bank, the largest household goods moving company, and the U. S. Army as a Budget & Finance Officer. He has conducted audits of large and small governments and federal government financed enterprises.
The Franklin County Auditor is responsible for establishing and monitoring the accounting and budgeting systems of Franklin County. The Auditor helps prepare the County's financial statements and works with the outside auditors on the annual financial audit. As budget office the Auditor is responsible for preparing and submitting a proposed annual budget to the County Commission, and preparing all related budget documents and schedules.
The County Auditor also monitors compliance with internal procedures, reviews accounts payable activity, monitors and evaluated the condition of the County budget and funds, and certifies contracts and expenditures. The Franklin County Auditor also maintains property records and conducts physical asset inventories. The Auditors office is made up of the Auditor and one full time Deputy. It is the mission of the Auditor's office to ensure your limited tax dollars are not wasted and that they are used to make Franklin County a better place to live.
