There are currently 31 full time employees that work in the jail.  These employees are responsible for transporting inmates to and from court, out of state and in state extraditions, facility security, in addition to the responsibility of housing inmates.  Inmates held in this facility range from civil detainees to dangerous felons.  The Franklin County Adult Detention Center is a maximum-security facility.

In 2003 there were 4,473 inmates that passed through the Franklin County Jail.  Out of those inmates, 4,142 were Franklin County inmates.  The remainder were held for cities and other agencies. There were a total of 44,436 inmate days spent by these inmates.  The highest population of inmates for a single day was 158.  The average daily population was 116.  Maximum capacity for the jail is 130 inmates.
