Meet the Sheriff

Sheriff Toelke began his employment with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in 1975.  He has worked under former Sheriffs Donald Schroeder, H. Bill Miller, and Paul J. Bruns.  In 1981 he was appointed to the position of Chief Deputy under Sheriff Bruns.

In 1988, he ran for the office of Sheriff.  He was appointed by the Franklin County Commission to fill the position of Sheriff in November of 1988 after Sheriff Bruns retired for health reasons.  He officially took the elected office of Sheriff on January 1, 1989.  He has remained Sheriff of Franklin County since that time.

Sheriff Toelke is a life long resident of Franklin County and the City of Union, Mo., where he lives with his wife Sandy of 33 years.  He and Sandy have two daughters and five grandchildren.
