Industrial Development Authority
On January 30, 1979, the County Commission adopted a Commission Order authorizing the formation of an industrial development authority. On February 1, 1979, incorporation documents were filed with the state of Missouri, establishing the Franklin County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) as a non-profit corporation, with the principal office being the Franklin County Planning Department. The corporation was originally established to have 12 members, with the by-laws specifying that the County Commission should endeavor to appoint one member from each of the 10 townships (plus “At-Large” members) but that they can appoint an additional “At-Large” member if a member could not be found with a particular township. Members serve terms of 6 years, or until a successor is appointed.

Officers are elected annually, usually at the regularly scheduled meeting in July.
Regular Meetings
The Franklin County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) meets at least once annually, generally on the fourth Wednesday of July, in the Second Floor Training Room of the Government Center at 400 E Locust Street, Union, Missouri. Occasionally additional meetings are held, if there are items for discussion. Scheduled meetings are on the County Home Page.
